It's flagrant and Obama fuels this disjunction. He has fueled it, imho,
by playing into the hands of the military and the tech industry since
he came into office. But, it may not really be him. I mean, he and
Michelle "present" as a black middle class family living in the White
House. They are allowed a measure of freedom to express their views
about equality, food islands, education, and the rest. Meanwhile, Obama
cuts deals. He has been cutting deals with generals since entering the
WH. They were, apparently, the first to visit him there. But, more
importantly, perhaps, to nettime readers, is that this disjunction is
quantifiable in terms of the relationship, imho, between the perception
of the day to day "user" and the gargantuan benefit to the few that the
digital economy in the US represents.
Painful.
